Ingredients:
for pressure cooking:
1 cup Moong Dal
Palak washed and chopped finely
3 cups water
1 tsp oil
½ tsp turmeric / haldi
for dal preparation:
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
2 tbsp ghee / clarified butter
1 tsp jeera / cumin seeds
1 onion, finely chopped
2 tomatoes, finely chopped
1 tsp ginger-garlic fine chopped
½ tsp turmeric / haldi
1 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder / lal mirch powder
½ tsp coriander powder
½ tsp garam masala
salt to taste
for tadka / tempering:
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp ghee / clarified butter
2 clove garlic, finely chopped
pinch of hing / asafoetida
2 dried red chilli
½ tsp kashmiri red chilli powder / lal mirch powder
Method:
firstly, pressure cook dal , chopped palak , little tumeric powder and salt for 2-3 whistles.
in a kadai heat ghee
Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds.
furthermore, add in chopped onions and ginger-garlic paste. saute well.
also add in chopped tomatoes and saute well.
now add spice powder.
add in pressure cooked palak with dal and mix well.
simmer for 6 minutes and pour the tempering / tadka over dal.
finally, mix the Dal well and serve with hot jeera rice
